On Friday, Russia accused Slovakia, which handed over MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, of violating a bilateral agreement, the portal “rbc.ua” reports.

Moscow has said that such supply without its consent is prohibited.

“Slovakia’s decision to transfer MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine is an unfriendly step towards Russia and a violation of international obligations,” the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation says.

According to its representatives, the 1997 agreement between Slovakia and Russia prohibits either party from “transferring to third countries weapons and military equipment obtained or acquired on the basis of bilateral military and technical cooperation” without the other party’s consent.

“We consider these actions of Slovakia as an unfriendly act against the Russian Federation aimed at undermining bilateral relations,” the agency noted.

On Thursday, Slovakia handed over the first four MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine.
