According to her, district commissions received data unsuitable for training, so they were asked to delete it. In addition, the mentioned information is official, the members of the commission can work with it and are obliged to protect it.

“Members of the election commissions received official information with which they have the right to work, not “leaked data”, CEC representative Indrė Ramanavičienė said in a statement to the media on Thursday. – As for this specific case, 60 municipal election commissions and their informaticians received from the CEC the formed tasks and the list of voters intended for the training process, which contained the voters’ names, surnames, personal identification codes, their assigned polling stations and voter card numbers.”

“The second letter was sent when it was noticed that the data in the first letter was not suitable for the training tasks. In other words, the data fragment sent to the municipal election commissions did not correspond to the data fragment uploaded to the training environment,” she added.

“When colleagues noticed this, they realized that the commissions would not be able to complete their tasks and immediately sent another list, and asked to delete the first one,” said the CEC representative.

A little earlier on Thursday, the news portal “lrytas.lt” reported that during the preparation for three elections, the CEC accidentally leaked thousands of almost 20,000. voter data.

“We would like to emphasize that before starting to work in the elections, every member of the election commission is familiarized with the procedure for storing personal data and given a promise to protect them,” said I. Ramanavičienė.

“The letters received by the members of the commissions are exclusively information related to their official activities, so it would not be correct to call them “leaked data”. Even if a member of the commission received the information by mistake, he would not have the right to use it and make it public,” she added.

Presidential elections will be held on May 12, European Parliament elections on June 9, and Seimas elections on October 13.
