A gruesome suicide was broadcast live on the Tik Tok social network on Wednesday morning.

At first, the man made messages that he was going to kill himself, and then, after turning on the video camera, he began to injure himself.

All this was observed or at least seen for a moment by more than ten people. One comment “Notify the police” was left, but the Kaunas police did not find out about it from the users of this social network.

“Police officers received a report that a video of a man harming himself was posted on a social network around 5:30 a.m. in the morning, one of the international law enforcement authorities reported this information to the officials. Kaunas district did not receive the initial notification. VPK”, representatives of the Kaunas police told the portal kauno.diena.lt.

The man was identified, but he was not at home. “After checking his place of residence in Prienai, the man was not found there. Then we received additional information that he may be staying in Kaunas. Our officers received such information around 10 am. Then they immediately went to the scene, broke open the door of the apartment, and found a man’s body inside,” said the police representatives.

According to the official police report, on May 3 at around 10:30 a.m. The body of a 40-year-old man with stab wounds was found in an apartment on Lakūnai pl. in Kaunas.

On May 4, the prosecutor’s office announced that it had started a pre-trial investigation to determine the cause of death.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the inspection at the specified address was carried out after receiving a report from the Singapore Interpol National Office, which indicates that a man is self-harming in the online chat application “Tik Tok”.

The initial conclusions of the Forensic Medical Examiner confirm the version of suicide. Multiple, repeated injuries of a similar direction were found on the man’s body. No signs of self-defense were found.

Police officers ask citizens to report suspicious or inappropriate behavior by calling 112 as soon as possible.
