We remind you that the winners of the LFF Cup gain the right to participate in the qualifying competition, but the situation of the Vilnius district team that won this trophy last year seemed unclear for a long time, because the club did not comply with one of the important rules set by UEFA.

The “3-year rule” requires a club seeking a UEFA license and participation in UEFA competitions to have been a member of the LFF or an LFF member for at least three consecutive years and to have competed in official LFF competitions for at least three consecutive years.

However, on April 26 UEFA CFCB (English “Club Financial Control Body”) made a decision to satisfy the Vilnius district. TransINVEST has applied for an exemption to this so-called “3-year rule”, which means the club can apply for a UEFA licence.

The Vilnius district club is making its debut in the A League this year, but so far it is having a hard time – it is in the last 10th place with 7 points.

The meeting of the LFF Licensing Committee will take decisions on the issuance of UEFA licenses on April 29. (Monday). The following clubs are seeking UEFA licenses this year: Panevėžys, Žalgiris, FA Šiauliai, FK TransINVEST, Kauno Žalgiris, Sūduva and Gintra (UEFA Women’s Champions League license).
