In the meantime, the House of Rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania published on social networks unheard of facts about the monarch who ruled the United Kingdom for more than 70 years. According to the facts presented by the House of Lords, Elizabeth II had fairly close relations with Lithuania.

“Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom (1926-2022) had connections with the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, among her ancestors were representatives of the Lithuanian Gediminai dynasty. Thus, Queen Elizabeth II also had Lithuanian blood.

Queen Elizabeth II is a twentieth-generation descendant of the Grand Duke Gediminas of Lithuania, or a seventeenth-generation descendant of the Grand Duke of Lithuania and King of Poland Kazimierz Jogailaitis (1427-1492), whose daughter Sophia fled to Brandenburg and joined the Hohenzollern dynasty. The Hohenzollern Dukes of Brandenburg later ruled Prussia. The first Duke of Prussia, Albrecht Hohenzollern, was, among other things, a real cousin of the Grand Duke of Lithuania and Polish King Žigimantus Augustus (1544/1548–1572), who often visited the Vilnius residence.

According to Stephen Rowell, a British historian living in Lithuania, the Hohenzollern dynasty is closely related in the female line to the Stewarts-Hanover dynasty, from which the ancestors of Queen Elizabeth II came. Thus, the Hanoverian dynasty, now called the Windsors, is descended through the female line from the Scottish Stuarts and the German Hanoverian dynasty. These dynastic connections are reflected in all the genealogical tables of Elizabeth II’s descent. Therefore, a direct connection between the Lithuanian Gediminai and the British Stuart-Hanover-Windsor dynasties can be traced through the female line.

By the way, Queen Elizabeth II’s son, Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh and Earl of Wessex, in 2018. visited the Palace of the Lords and participated in the event organized there, left an entry in the museum’s guest book.

The community of the House of Lords Museum, located in the restored main residence of the Gediminas dynasty, mourns with the residents of the United Kingdom and the entire Commonwealth for the loss of the legendary Queen and expresses its sincere condolences to the royal family and the residents of Her countries,” the House of Lords Facebook page reads.

Elizabeth II inherited the throne from her father in 1952. She ruled the United Kingdom for over 70 years.

Queen Elizabeth II died on the afternoon of September 8 this year at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She was 96 years old. According to Buckingham Palace, the monarch died peacefully.

After the death of Elizabeth II, her eldest son, Prince Charles, now takes the throne. He chose the name of King Charles III. His wife Camilla became Queen Consort.
