Cheaper annual public transport tickets will be introduced in Kaunas from May, when companies or organizations buy 100 or more such tickets for the whole year.

This decision was made by consensus in the municipal council.

The price of one annual electronic public transport ticket will reach 193 euros when buying a large number of them. This price will also apply to additional single tickets purchased later.

Martynas Matusevičius, head of the Transport and Traffic Management Department of the Kaunas Municipality Administration, previously told BNS that the aim of setting a lower ticket price for employees of large companies is to promote movement by public transport.

“We see that some large companies themselves encourage employees to come to their workplaces by public transport. They solve the lack of parking spaces, encourage employees to come to the workplace cheaper, this is also very useful for the city, because the streets are less loaded with private cars”, commented M. Matusevičius.

The annual electronic ticket for Kaunas public transport currently costs 275 euros.

The council on Tuesday also approved 99 percent. public transport concessions for three thousand participants of the song festival “Kad giria žaliauų” which will take place at the end of June.

The participants of the festival will be able to use this discount on June 27-29, Kaunas allocated almost 25 thousand for ticket compensation. euros.

The republican song festival commemorating the centenary “That the forest is green” will be opened by the event “Forests and mountains are green” in the Kaunas Valley of Songs. From June 27, choir rehearsals will begin in various parts of the city, the opening of the festival will take place on June 29.
