“Today, the Hamas movement received the official response of the Zionist occupation (Israel) to the movement’s position, delivered on April 13 to Egyptian and Qatari mediators,” said Khalil al-Hayya, deputy head of Hamas’s political wing in the Gaza Strip, in a brief statement.

“The movement will study this proposal and […] will provide an answer,” he added.

On April 13, Hamas demanded a permanent ceasefire, but Israel does not accept it.

An Egyptian delegation of mediator arrived in Israel on Friday to move stalled ceasefire talks, Israeli and Egyptian media reported.

Israel is launching a large-scale military offensive against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip after the Islamist group carried out an unprecedented attack on southern Israeli communities on October 7.

The October 7 attack by Hamas killed 1,170 people, mostly civilians, according to Israel.

In the attack, Hamas militants took about 250 hostages, 129 of whom Israel says are still in the Gaza Strip, including 34 dead.

After vowing to destroy Hamas, Israel launched a massive military offensive that killed at least 34,388 people, mostly women and children, in the Gaza Strip, the Hamas-run territory’s Health Ministry said on Saturday. She also stated that at least 32 Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours.
