“After being officially approached to give an interview to the opposition Russian news portal Meduza, unexpectedly my interview was placed on the channel of Belarusian propagandists with all kid’s embellishments of the narrative,” G. Jeglinskas wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

The candidate said in an assessment that “propagandists are worried about a strong and secure state, for which we must be more than ever ready to fight.”

“I am calm about the content of the interview, but it is honestly unpleasant to enter such a channel. My advice to all colleagues, very responsibly assess whether it is worth commenting even on “opposition” channels,” the candidate wrote.

In social networks, G. Jeglinskas received a lot of criticism for giving an interview without checking who contacted him and without even paying attention to the fact that the e-mail the mail from which the letter was sent to him is not the one used by the Meduza portal.

In a Belarusian propaganda TV show, Lithuania is presented as a puppet of the USA: “During more than 30 years of so-called “independence”, Lithuania has turned from a visiting card of a once great country into a doormat at NATO’s door. Trained marionettes stand at the wheel. Instead of economic support – militarization and turning it into a military bridgehead”.

G. Jeglinskas is named as an opposition candidate. He claims that the current foreign policy of Lithuania is unprofessional, chaotic, if there is a lack of unity and values. However, he states that he believes that Lithuania needs to strengthen its relations with the United States, because there is no alternative. He also claims that he will seek to have more NATO in Lithuania, discusses the Suwalki corridor issue. Among internal problems, G. Jeglinskas singled out demographic problems and immigration.
