The US Department of Defense has officially confirmed that pro-Iranian groups have carried out two attacks against US forces in Iraq and Syria.

The US Department of Defense has officially confirmed that pro-Iranian groups have carried out two attacks against US forces in Iraq and Syria.

“April 22 Strike groups loyal to Iran have carried out two failed attacks against US forces in Iraq and Syria,” Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said in Washington on Tuesday.

“These attacks threaten coalition and Iraqi personnel and call on the Iraqi government to take all necessary steps to ensure the protection of US forces in Iraq and Syria from attacks by these groups,” Ryder said.

No US personnel were injured in the attacks.

On Monday, the US State Department hinted at an attack by a strike group loyal to Iran on a US military base in Syria.

Following reports of a failed missile attack near a coalition base, the Defense Department said a coalition fighter jet destroyed the launcher in self-defense.

Since the start of the Gaza war in October, pro-Iranian groups have repeatedly attacked bases in Iraq and Syria, which are used by the US military, among others.

At the end of January, three US soldiers were killed in one of the attacks in Jordan, near the Syrian border.
