Today, the commemoration of the 95th anniversary of the death of Pranas Gudynas will be held in Kaunas – Alkas.lt

Monday, May 6 12:00 p.m. The commemoration of the 95th anniversary of the death of the marksman, the pilot of the 4th Air Squadron of the Lithuanian Air Force, Pranas Gudynas, will be held in Kaunas at the State Music Theater.

Pranas Gudynas graduated from the Veiveri teachers’ seminary in 1919, and in 1921 December 18 – Kaunas Military School and was assigned to the 8th Infantry Regiment. in 1923 participated in the Klaipėda region uprising, company commander of the 1st Klaipėda region volunteer regiment.

in 1924 month of January. transferred to Autobatalion. Since 1924 studied at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lithuania, from 1925 worked at the Lithuanian military court. Since 1926 September. Military Air Force Air Scout. in 1927 July. graduated from the aviation department of the Higher Officer Course and was assigned as a pilot of the 4th Air Squadron.

Since 1927 Prime Minister prof. Adjutant of Augustin Voldemar. in 1929 May 6 8 p.m. 20 minutes died while blocking A. Voldemar with his body during an attempt at the State Theater in Kaunas. Buried in Veiverii cemetery.

The place of Mr. Gudyna’s death in front of the State Theater during the period of the first Republic of Lithuania was marked by cement pillars with iron chains and a poured grave, but it was destroyed during the Soviet era.

in 2011 May 6 his memory was perpetuated/restored – a commemorative plaque to Pranas Gudyn was unveiled.
