Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said the strike killed three civilians and wounded several others.
“The father, mother and their little son were tortured,” said the head of Meis Jabal Municipality, Abdelmoneim Chukair.
Later on Sunday, the Lebanese movement Hezbollah said it fired dozens of rockets into northern Israel in retaliation for the strike.
The statement said the militants fired “dozens of Katyusha and Falaq rockets at Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel in retaliation for the Jewish state’s strike on southern Lebanon.”
Since October 7, when the Islamist group Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel and sparked a war in the Gaza Strip, Israeli troops and Hezbollah fighters have been firing at each other on the border almost daily.
But the attacks have only intensified in recent weeks, with the Jewish state striking deeper into Lebanese territory and Iran-backed Hezbollah stepping up rocket and drone attacks on military positions in northern Israel.
On Saturday, Hezbollah reported shelling military positions in northern Israel.
The Iranian-backed militants have repeatedly said they will stop attacking the Jewish state only when fighting in the Palestinian enclave is completely stopped.
The latest outbreak of violence came as a Hamas delegation met with mediators in Egypt to negotiate a possible temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The US and France are making diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between Israel and Lebanon.
At least 389 people, mostly militants, as well as more than 70 civilians, have been killed in nearly seven months of cross-border violence in Lebanon, according to the AFP news agency.
At least 11 Hamas fighters were among the dead.
According to Israel, 11 Jewish soldiers and nine civilians were killed during this standoff with Lebanese militants.
