According to British intelligence, many of the soldiers who were tracked down and court-martialed were given suspended sentences and returned to their units and to the front.

At the same time, the number of Russian citizens seeking asylum in Western countries and avoiding military service reached a record level.

“Russian troops, especially forcibly enlisted during partial mobilization in 2022. in September, must remain in military service for an indefinite period with a low probability of demobilization”, explains the reason for the escape attempt, the intelligence of the British Ministry of Defense.
