AS Monaco, represented by Donatas Motiejūnas, achieved a dramatic victory in the quarter-finals of the Euroleague, which is at home 93:88 (31:21, 23:29, 11:24, 28:14) took revenge against Fenerbahçe of Istanbul coached by Sarūnas Jasikevicius.

In the series up to three victories, the tie is 1:1. Now the fighting will move to Istanbul next week.

The Istanbul team was starved of points at the beginning of the match, and the home team took advantage of this to break away 11-2. Tyler Dorsey broke the bad streak, but the bad news for Fenerbahce was that Sertach Šanli had a hard time getting off the floor – 7:14. T. Dorsey was the only scorer for Fenerbahce, which was not enough for the visitors. The difference was increased by D. Motiejūnas, who soon hit his second three-pointer – 26:11. In the first half, “AS Monaco” controlled the situation – 31:21.

Scottie Wilbekin and Nick Calathes started to destroy the deficit of “Fenerbahçe” (28:35), although D. Motiejūnas prevented it – 37:28. Only 3 points separated the teams (36:39) after Marko Guduričius’ shot, but the home team responded with five in a row. M. James and Elie Okobo returned a double-digit advantage to “AS Monaco” (50:40), but S. Wilbekin wiped it all away – 50:54.

Although Mr. Brown somewhat stabilized the position of AS Monaco, it did not last long (59:53). Tyler Dorsey and Scottie Wilbekin put Fenerbahçe ahead (61:59), and T.Dorsey continued to make three-pointers one after the other – 66:62. The Istanbul team stayed in front and far away (72:65) and led 74:65 after three quarters.

J. Loydas, Mouhammadou Jaiteh started to reduce the deficit in tandem – a point from his teleco – 74:75. In the end, Jaron Blossomgame put AS Monaco ahead (77-75), but not for long, as T.Dorsey returned a fragile advantage to Fenerbahce, 79-77. With 3 minutes left, the Lithuanian equalized the score, and E. Okobo shot from a distance – 84:79. S. Wilbekin reduced the difference (82:84), and Š. Jasikevičius received a technical foul, dissatisfied with the foul against Nigel Hayes-Davis. After the review, an unsportsmanlike foul was recorded for D. Motiejūn, and N. Hayes-Davis took the penalty shot – 84:85.

With 1.38 minutes left, M. Guduričius could have overturned the result with penalties, but scored only a point – 85:85. After recovering the ball, A. Diallo scored important points (87:85), and Fenerbahçe had a minute left to save. S.Wilbekin missed and Georgios Papagiannis fouled. J. Loydas missed the penalty (89:85), M. Guduričius missed and committed a foul. While J. Loydas scored only one point, S. WIlbekinas reduced the difference in a flash – 88:90. J. Loydas hit a very important three-pointer, which practically determined the outcome of the match – 93:88. The home team had 6 seconds left to not let go of the victory.
