If until now some Tinder users could only send a snapshot of their partner’s profile to their loved ones before getting ready to meet their crush, now they can communicate their dating plans much more simply. For this, Tinder has introduced a new feature called Share My Date.
Tinder users will now be able to send a link to their chosen contacts, which will provide information about the date, place, time of the future date, and will also be able to share the crush’s profile. In addition, there is an opportunity to write the desired note or comment next to the link. Such references can be sent in advance, up to 30 days before the date. In addition, the information can be edited, so users can update it at any time,” says Mr. Antropik.
According to her, Share My Date links can be viewed by any recipient, including non-Tinder users. Relatives with a Tinder account can view the user’s entire uploaded profile, but cannot interact with it. Those who don’t have a Tinder account can see a limited version of a crush’s profile in their browser: photos, name and age.
This new feature was inspired by Tinder user data. According to them, even 51 percent singles under the age of 30 share details about their future dates with their friends in advance. Mr. Antropik adds that the change may have been prompted by the frequent crimes associated with Tinder, which are mostly aimed at women – users who use the platform have already become victims of crimes.
“This new feature will help users feel safer when going out on dates, and help law enforcement respond more quickly in the event of an unsafe situation.” Of course, one minus remains – it is not uncommon for the app to impersonate other people, use photos of others, which may still make it difficult to find the criminals,” says Mr. Antropik.
Advises to proceed with caution
In the coming months, the new feature will be available to Tinder users in the US, England, Australia, Canada, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, India, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Brazil, Singapore, Switzerland, Mexico, Korea, Vietnam and Thailand. In Lithuania, this function will have to wait for now.
To ensure a smooth first date, the developers of the dating app advise users to stay alert and think about their own safety before meeting someone new.
“Above all, keep your details safe – don’t immediately reveal your home or office address. Before going to the first meeting, suggest a video call first. It is also advisable to choose a public place for the first date that you know well, where there will be other people, and to inform a loved one about your plans and whereabouts. If you feel uncomfortable during a date, don’t be afraid to apologize and leave earlier than you planned,” advises J. Antropik.
