Only 4 athletes scored goals in the ranks of the Lithuanian national team – Rita Rakauskienė scored 9 goals, Vakare Damulevičiūtė scored 5, Aušra Arcičevskaja scored 4 times and Dominyka Andronik scored 2.
As many as 14 players scored in the ranks of Spain. Danila So Delgado Pinto played the most productive in the ranks of the winners, who scored 8 goals.
In the qualifying tournament of the European Championship, Lithuanian handball players won 1 victory in 5 matches and have 2 points on their account. They are in third place in Group 5, and only the two best teams in the groups and the 4 best third-place national teams will qualify for the European Championship.
Lithuania started the qualifying tournament with a painful defeat in Spain 14:47. In the second match in the capital of Lithuania, the Lithuanians lost 28:31 to the Macedonian handball players. Later, Lithuanians lost to Azerbaijan on the road, but they made up for it in Vilnius 41:26.
The Lithuanian national team will finish the selection on April 7, when they will face off against North Macedonia. Macedonians and Spaniards have already secured their place in the championship.
Lithuania still has hope to travel further. For the Lithuanian women’s handball team, it would be the first time in the final round of the European Championship since 1996.
