How lrytas.lt found out in the Situation Coordination Department of the Fire Protection and Rescue Department, the report about the fire in Antakalnio st. in the apartment building was received around 3 p.m. 53 min. The woman who called the helpline said that the oil had caught fire in the apartment, there is one 14-year-old left in the house, while the reporter herself is in a completely different place.
All operational services of Vilnius were dispatched to the scene – firefighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel.
Upon receiving this report, the firefighters rushed to the scene and found the apartment on the ninth floor (a 12-story building) already on fire. A fourteen-year-old who was in the apartment managed to escape from the burning apartment and was found at the neighbors. The minor was not injured.
Around 4 p.m. 16 min. the fire was localized, and around 4 p.m. 21 min. and completely liquidated. The fire did not have time to spread.
Antakalnio St. was closed for some time due to the incident. the section at the Šilo bridge – the street here was occupied by the transport of operational services.
The Elta agency reported that after the fire was extinguished, a gas leak was reported. About an hour later, it was reported that gas was coming from the same house.
PAGD informed the agency that there was no danger to people.
“The gas leak was detected in the same apartment where the fire started, but there was no need to evacuate the residents. When the gas workers arrived, they checked the situation – there are no threats to people,” the PAGD representative assured Elta.
The incident is under investigation.
