The militant group said it attacked the al-Tanfo military base near the border with Jordan and Iraq on Monday night.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights earlier reported that the base was attacked by a drone that was shot down by US troops.

The US military has not yet commented on the incident. The al-Tanfo base has suffered several attacks in the past.

The Iraqi Islamic Resistance Group in Iraq unites pro-Iranian militant groups that have been operating under this name since the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on October 7. carried out an attack in Israel. Among them is Kataib Hezbollah, one of the most powerful militant groups in Iraq, which, among other things, demands the withdrawal of US troops from the country.

Since the war in Gaza began almost half a year ago, pro-Iranian groups have carried out several attacks on US military bases in the region.

January 28 one such attack in Jordan near the border with Syria killed three US soldiers.

The US responded to this attack with intensive airstrikes against the positions of pro-Iranian groups in Iraq and Syria.

By early February, almost all attacks on US bases in the region had ceased.
