An impressive event – the French, Ukrainian and Brazilian futsal teams will come to Lithuania

On April 13-16, top-level futsal will be buzzing in Jonava – an international four-team tournament will take place here, where Lithuanian opponents will be European and futsal national teams.

The fans in Jonava will be able to enjoy the matches of the Lithuanian national team against top-level opponents, as the national teams of France, Ukraine and Brazil are coming to Lithuania.

“We will have three teams in the top 10 of the FIFA ranking, our national team is a little lower at the moment, but we will try to fight with our new coach, I believe that the return of the coach is the right step, and this tournament will be part of the preparation before the European Futsal Championship 2026, which will be held in our country”, LFF president Edgaras Stankevičius said about the tournament.

Darius Gurskis, president of the Lithuanian Indoor Football Association, also told about the idea of ​​such a tournament.

“After receiving the right to organize the championship, thoughts began to swirl about how we will prepare and with which team we will meet it. There have been changes in the national team position, we are happy that Dentinho has agreed to return to this position.

We set the highest goals for the national team, and this tournament will be the beginning of our preparation. We considered many options, we also had an invitation from Argentina, but we are happy that such strong national teams will come to us”, stressed the head of the LSFA.

Mindaugas Sinkevičius, the mayor of Jonava district municipality, who participated in the presentation of the event, was also happy that an event of this level is coming to Jonava.

“I want to be happy that this event will take place in Jonava. An international tournament with good teams, sports intrigue, I am sure that the fights will be interesting and the fans will have something to look at. The municipality is happy and will contribute to the implementation of the tournament, we have an excellent infrastructure”, the mayor shared his thoughts.

The matches will be held on April 13, 15 and 16, all teams will play one match each.

The guests of the tournament are capable European national teams, which are preparing for the FIFA World Futsal Championship to be held in the fall, to which they all qualified after qualifying for their respective continents.

Lithuanian futsal fans were already able to see the Brazilian national team more than a couple of years ago, when it visited Lithuania and participated in the FIFA World Futsal Championship, where it won third place.

Meanwhile, the French and Ukrainian teams have also qualified for the World Cup, where they will aim to perform as well as possible.
