The municipalities of Vilnius, Šiauliai, Kaunas and Panevėžys plan to end the heating season by Tuesday. The municipality of Klaipėda intends to make a decision on the end of the heating season at the beginning of next week.

Representatives of Panevėžys, Šiauliai and Vilnius municipalities told BNS that the heating season will be completed by Tuesday.

The municipality of Klaipėda told BNS on Friday that “the end of the heating season will be decided at the beginning of next week”.

Kaunas municipality announced on Friday that the heating season will end on Monday.

Last year, the heating season ended on April 25 in Vilnius and Kaunas, on May 5 in Klaipėda and Panevėžys, and on May 9-10 in Šiauliai.

As the weather cooled down at the beginning of this week, a large part of the country’s municipalities, including Vilnius, renewed the heating season.

Municipalities can end the heating season when the average outdoor air temperature is higher than 10 degrees for three days in a row.

The municipality reminds that the residents themselves can decide when to start and end the heating season, but this requires the consent of more than half of the apartment owners.
