“Bolt” and the Lithuanian police are planning a raid – MadeinVilnius.lt

The transportation service platform “Bolt” together with the Lithuanian Police will remind users of electric scooters of the current road traffic rules during a raid on Upės Street in the capital on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of careful driving. Special attention will be paid to the control of the use of mandatory safety equipment – safety helmets.

“Drivers of electric scooters, like all road users, must act responsibly and always prioritize safety. Lithuanians cover more and more kilometers by electric scooter, often choosing it instead of a more polluting car journey, but sometimes it happens that the scooter user does not fully appreciate his responsibility as a vehicle driver. By implementing preventive measures together with police officers, we aim to emphasize, and to remind some electric scooter drivers, the importance of following the rules”, says Benas Jurlovas, head of operations of Bolt sharing services in Lithuania.

Throughout the country, on May 9-11, the Lithuanian Police conducts activities of drivers not related to driving (use of mobile communication devices while driving when no hands-free equipment is available), mandatory safety measures (use of seat belts, safety helmets, special seats (fastening systems) for children) control.

“Helmets are mandatory for all minors riding bicycles or micro-mobility devices such as electric scooters, bicycles, skateboards or rollerblades. Helmets are also mandatory for those who travel on the carriageway in these vehicles. Unfortunately, we still notice that people for whom helmets are mandatory do not always follow these rules, and forget that they can be fined,” says Lithuanian police representative Jorūnė Liutkienė and reminds that wearing a helmet is recommended for all cyclists in the Road Traffic Rules. and micromobility drivers.

During the raid on Thursday, representatives of the company “Bolt” will give symbolic gifts to scooter drivers who have listened to the reminder of the rules.

The Bolt electric scooter sharing service currently operates in 13 cities, and electric bikes can be rented in Vilnius and Kaunas.
