Now the batteries used in electric cars are afraid of cold, in which their properties deteriorate, so the batteries are specially heated. At the Interbattery exhibition held in Seoul, the developers SK On demonstrated the Winter Pro LFP battery, which is specially designed so that it is not afraid of the cold.

Conventional lithium-ion batteries lose from 50 to even 70 percent of their resource if it’s twenty degrees cold outside. Newly developed batteries almost do not lose their properties in this cold.

True, the developers do not reveal when such batteries can be put into operation in cars. It does not say the possible price of this battery.

At the same show, Samsung SDI announced that it is developing solid-state batteries and plans to start producing them in two years. In addition, the company announced that it will soon start producing batteries that will need to be charged in just nine minutes and will last at least 20 years.

The company’s vice president Stella Joo-Young Go said at the show that current lithium-ion batteries are already advanced enough to require a breakthrough in this field, and Samsung SDI will be one of those manufacturers who can offer a breakthrough soon.
