On the occasion of the Press Recovery Day, there is a traditional basketball match for journalists

“It’s nice that we have such a beautiful tradition – to celebrate the professional holiday of journalists on the basketball court. The occasion of the Day of Reclaiming the Press is particularly important to us. Journalists are an integral part of sports work, they are mediators between athletes and fans. Such matches are not only a good opportunity to compete, but also to talk about sports. And for us, it’s an opportunity to thank journalists for their daily work in covering the current affairs of Lithuanian sports,” said Daina Gudzinevičiūtė, Olympic champion and president of the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee.

“This match is a tradition that has existed for at least 20 years. Persistent and interesting battles take place on the basketball court, but communication itself is also important, let’s talk about Olympic sports. It’s a fun and good tradition, which we hope to extend for at least another 20 years,” said LSŽF president Tautvydas Vencevičius.

After the first half, the “Perlo” team led by five points. Before the last quarter, the journalists were already behind by a double-digit difference, and in the last quarter, the “Perlo” team finally consolidated its advantage. The match was won by the “Perlo” team with the score of 99:65. LTOK president Daina Gudzinevičiūtė presented commemorative prizes to all players of the tournament.

The “Perlo” team was represented by Ernestas Miežys, Vaidas Kazragis, Simonas Fergelis, Nerijus Giedraitis, Simonas Lukošius, Rokas Eimutis, Martynas Sabaliauskas, Laurynas Šatas, Justas Jankauskas, Mantas Zubrickas.

LSŽF team shirts were worn by Martynas Pocius, Haris Zenkovas, Stasys Petkus, Lukas Malinauskas, Dovydas Bliūdžius, Augustas Četkauskas, Dalius Matvejevs, Donatas Bilius, Gustas Ramonas, Gedas Saročka.

The matches were refereed by real legends – Romualdas Brazauskas and Gintautas Zalieckas.
