The Senate on Tuesday night supported the measure, which passed the US House of Representatives on Saturday.

It includes 61 billion dollars in military aid to Ukraine, which the Pentagon says could begin flowing to the war-torn country “within days.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reacted soon.

“This vote strengthens America’s role as a beacon of democracy and a leader of the free world,” Zelensky said in a statement.

“This important piece of legislation will make our country and our world safer as we stand with our friends who defend themselves against terrorists like Hamas and tyrants like Putin,” the US president concluded.

Soigu burst out with threats

Russia is threatening to step up attacks on logistics hubs and Western weapons depots in Ukraine after the US House of Representatives voted in favor of providing American aid to the country.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told a meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry’s collegium that his country had allegedly “debunked the myth of the superiority of Western weapons” and that Russian troops were holding the initiative on the front line.

“Taking into account the threats posed by the United States and its allies, we will continue to improve the composition and structure of the armed forces, and increase the production of the most popular types of weapons and military equipment. We will increase the intensity of attacks on logistics centers and storage bases of Western weapons,” he said.

Israel thanks US Senate for approving military aid

Israel’s foreign minister thanked the US Senate for 13 billion US dollars in military aid, which he said sent a “strong message” to the country’s enemies.
