Daiva Genienė, the head of the Tauragė public health office, is better known by the Tauragians as a specialist promoting the health of the population, but she is the creator of an artistic soul, which few people know yet. However, Daiva says that creativity accompanies her throughout her life, and a few days ago, a long-cherished dream came true – her first book left the printing house, which will be presented in Vilnius this month, and in the spring of Tauragiški.

He pretended to be an emotion

“The Parabola of Sin” is Daiva Genienė’s first author’s book, until then her works were published in almanacs, various magazines, and newspapers.

– I write not only poems, but also prose, essays, I don’t publish everything, I don’t share everything yet. I created already at school, during my studies. It’s just that the poem comes or doesn’t come, it comes and you write it down, and if it doesn’t come, pause. Inspiration comes to me without waiting. Sometimes a sentence spoken by someone or a word heard, some emotion dictates a word that unrolls into a poem like a ball of thread – how her work is born, said Daiva.

At the end of January, after receiving the first shipment of the publication, D. Genienė took a selfie in front of the mirror, which is why the title of the book was immortalized in reverse. It was this shot that caused considerable curiosity on social networks, and the author joked that the mirror text on the cover will speak only to the most attentive.

– That’s how I assumed the first emotion. Now is a very busy period for me, after work I participate in trainings, seminars, and go to other cities. Therefore, I have not yet had time to reflect deeply within myself. Of course, it’s fun to have an orderly expression of your creativity, – the creator smiles as she speaks.

The merits of not one

The fact that the book saw the light of day, Daiva assured, is not her merit alone. She is most happy that her friends and creative people got involved in the publishing project. The soul of the “Vakarutė” club, Ramunė Palekaitė-Vakarė, edited the book, helped give shape to the chapters, motivated and morally supported the author. Virginija Norkevičiūtė, a member of the club, also helped a lot.

D. Genienė is grateful to the photographer and artist Sigita Flaksienė for designing the cover, openness to changes and discussion. According to the author, it just seems that the result comes quickly and by itself, while in reality many questions arise regarding color and conceptual matters, the women devoted a lot of time to a joint creative search, so Daiva’s book is a joint project of several artists.

– Each of us has a beginning, when we are not sure of what we are doing, when the support of those around us is important, when it is very important to find our listener, and only later our reader, when it is important to find a medium to grow, because if you write for yourself and do not hear those writing around you, the result can and not happy. I am very grateful to the women of “Vakarutė” for that beautiful beginning that led to the result, the interviewee thanked her friends.

Created for a quarter of a century

Only D. Genienė’s poems were printed in “Oodimės parabolė”. To the creator herself, they all seem different – stylistics, poetry. Daiva says that there was a stage when he wrote structured poems, although they were in verse, but the stanzas kept getting shorter and shorter. A little later he created white lines. Even today, white lines prevail in Daiva’s work, but they are getting longer.

– I joke that my poems cover almost a quarter of a century – from my early, later and most recent work. I am glad that the publication of the book was supported by the municipality, of course, there is also a part of my personal funds. The artist and editor of the book contributed their work free of charge, – said the writer.

The author assured that only after reading the book we will understand why it has such a name. The readers themselves will have to reveal what topics the poems cover and what thoughts they convey.

– I would invite the readers to assess for themselves what my poems say to them, or maybe they don’t, maybe I have the illusion that they are talking to others. However, I would really like them to speak not only to me, but also to my readers, said the creator.

D. Genienė will present her book to the public on February 25, Saturday, at 4 p.m. Litexpo book fair in Vilnius. The publishing house “Homo liber”, where the book was published, invited Daiva to the book fair to meet the readers. The presentation of the book is planned in Taurage in March or April, and will go wherever invited.

“The Parable of Sin” was published in a circulation of 300 copies.
