It is true, first of all D. Kuleba noted that since 2014, when Russia started aggression against Ukraine, Kyiv organized more than 200 rounds of negotiations with Moscow, which did not lead to anything and ultimately ended in a full-scale war.

“Our approach stems from reality and from the experience we gained in 2014-2022, because the aggression against Ukraine began in 2014. Since 2014 until 2022 we held almost 200 rounds of negotiations with Russia in various formats, with mediators and on a bilateral basis. But nothing worked. It ended in a large-scale invasion,” D. Kuleba reminded.

There is no point in negotiating if there is no assurance

“So we know that there’s no point in inviting Russia to the negotiating table if you can’t guarantee that it will behave honestly. There are only two ways to get Russia to behave honestly. The first is success on the battlefield, and the second is a coalition of countries that share the same principles and attitudes.

That is why Russia is not invited to the peace summit in Switzerland. Because the goal of this summit is to bring together countries that share common principles and approaches that will allow for further action.

After that, Russia can be contacted and can participate in the negotiations. Because the war cannot be ended without both countries,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Switzerland: The peace conference on the war in Ukraine will be held in June, Russia will not participate

The Swiss government said on Wednesday that a summit to discuss the Ukraine peace plan would be held in mid-June, without Russia.

The conference will be held on June 15-16 in Lucerne, in the Swiss Alps, at the luxury Burgenstock Hotel, and will be chaired by the country’s president, Viola Amherd.

At that time, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis indicated that Moscow’s representatives would not be present at the event, although he emphasized that the aim was to include Russia in future negotiations.

“The peace process cannot take place without Russia, even though it will not participate in the first meeting,” the head of diplomacy told reporters.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on the Telegram social network that the Swiss conference will continue the previous work on the implementation of the Peace Formula.
