The 2nd of June has long been a day when the whole of Lithuania celebrates: on that day, both young and old gather for the National Grill Day. It is also accompanied by the birthday of the low-price retail chain Lidl, which is already the 8th. After last year’s record birthday – more than 7 thousand. of grilled sausages at the same time, this year Lidl invites everyone to an even bigger fiesta of fun, which will take place on Kaunas Nemunas Island for the second year in a row.

With our bold decisions, we have shown both all residents of Lithuania and other retail chains that it is possible not only to offer the necessary goods on a daily basis – at a friendly price, but also to actively contribute to many community activities”, says Kristina Mazeikytė, head of the marketing department of Lidl Lietuva.
A birthday where guests receive gifts
Lidl’s birthday, which has already become a tradition, attracts thousands of entertainers from all over Lithuania, and not for nothing, because Lidl’s low prices are loved by all of Lithuania! On June 2, the first Sunday of summer, the residents of Kaunas and the guests of the city will have plenty of entertainment.
The birthday celebration will start at 2 p.m., when the little visitors will enjoy free entertainment: adventures in the soap bubble workshop, puzzles on trampolines and air castles, and other fun activities. On Kaunas’s Nemunas Island, everyone will also find plenty of free entertainment, as well as gifts from Lidl Plus partners and other surprises.
One such surprise is that the TV3 TV show “Lidl’s grill talents” will be filmed at the event, which will be hosted by the unique traveler and cook, Lidl ambassador Vytaras Radzevičius. Birthday guests will be invited not only to take a close look at how cooking shows are filmed, but also to actively express their support for the most deserving grill talent title.
Of course, what’s a birthday without a festive feast! On that day, we will also celebrate the National Grill Day, and Kaunas Nemunas Island will be flooded with the delicious smells of grilled “Grill&Fun” meals – from hot dogs, grilled cheese to roasted chicken steaks. Be prepared, because there will definitely be something to taste! All the more so since the barbecues will be worked by a team of grill masters led by chef Vyliaus Blauzdavičius, who will grill and distribute more than 300 kg of Grill&Fun products for free.
“Vylius is one of the most famous grill masters in Lithuania, and exclusively the guests of Lidl’s birthday will be able to enjoy wonderful and exclusive dishes prepared by him. Both young and old will be able to taste them, because the selection of delicacies is really huge”, says K. Mažeikytė.

With a firm boost, the birthday guests will be rocked by the stars of contemporary Lithuanian music: the iconic Remis Retro and the rising star Gamka. In addition to them, the romantic Angelou will also appear on the birthday scene.
The spectacular afternoon of National Grill Day and Lidl’s 8th birthday will be topped off with a grandiose Lidl birthday cake made from fresh fruit and vegetables. After blowing out the candles on the cake, the unique GJan will take the stage.
