He did not know that the item was stolen

Husqvarna service engineer Antanas, to whom people bring broken mowers, shared one of the more interesting stories.

“They bought a robot in Plunge, they said that you manage everything with that robot. It came because it broke, it needs to be updated. We are connected. Bumpt, threw out that there is such and such, bought in Denmark. – A thief? “Thief,” testified the master of the lawnmowers.

Antanas testified that there are cases when he brings an obviously stolen item.

“There were such people here, you could already see that the thieves had come. The robot’s wires were cut from the station, it was stolen. They brought it and say let it go, and when everything is cut, nobody lets it go. I asked if you have a pin code. He didn’t have it,” said Antanas.

Advised how to avoid misunderstanding

When buying a suspicious item, you should contact the official representatives of the manufacturer to check whether it is stolen.

Otherwise, you can experience what happened to one resident of Radvili. He bought a lawnmower, which turned out to be stolen in Sweden, according to an ad, for much less than in a store.

“A Swedish citizen lost his windbreaker. He came to terms with the idea that it was stolen, but after a couple of months he noticed that the lawnmower was working somewhere,” said Gailutė Smagriūnienė, a representative of the Šiauliai County Police.

The lawnmowers of this model are equipped with a GPS tracking system and are controlled by phone, so only when the robot is turned on, it transmits a signal to the owner and the place where he works can be determined.

“It was established that that robot is operating in Radviliškis district, in one homestead. The police officers went to that homestead and found a successfully working robot,” added G. Smagriūnienė.

Criminal liability may be incurred

After buying a stolen item, a person risks not only losing it, losing the money paid, but also incurring criminal liability. And in this case, the lawnmower was returned to Sweden to its owner.

“The most severe punishment is up to 6 years of imprisonment, that is if very high value property was acquired. However, it is necessary to prove that the person knew that he was buying a stolen item,” warned the representative of the Šiauliai County Police.

The investigation of this case regarding the stolen lawnmower has been suspended because the police were unable to identify the person who sold the stolen robot to a resident of Radvili.
