“We plan new kindergartens in Vilnius taking into account their needs. It is good that kindergartens are created not only as educational institutions, but also as community centers. The aim is for them to become a place where not only children, but also their parents and other residents of the district can meet and communicate,” says Vilnius City Municipality Mayor Valdas Benkunskas.

It is planned to build almost 4,000 square meters on Bieliūņu Street. sq. meter kindergarten. It will be spread over several buildings, which are shaped like individual wooden houses with patios. The new kindergarten will have six groups for children aged 2 to 3, and ten groups for children aged 3 to the beginning of primary education.

The construction permit for the new kindergarten in Perkūnkiem is expected to be received by the end of this year. Construction works are planned to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026. It is estimated that the total value of the project will reach about 11.5 million. euros.

“The new kindergarten will not only be closer to home, but at the same time I believe that it will encourage children’s curiosity, curiosity, independence and openness from the very first days. As you know, the Perkūnkiemi district arose on the site of the homesteads that once existed here. The architecture of the new kindergarten reflects the history of the area, thus connecting the past with the future and creating a unique space for the little ones to discover the world”, says Laura Joffė, head of the Vilnius development company.

The kindergarten project competition in Perkūnkiem was won by the “Project Preparation Bureau” and the “Inblum” architect studio. According to the authors of the project, the architectural solutions aimed to create a vision of a safe and open world for children.

“We wanted the children to identify being in a kindergarten group with being at home, so we designed the building so that each of its bodies has the characteristics of an individual house.” We also took into account the fact that play is a child’s natural state, which is particularly important for his development, so in this kindergarten, all spaces and surfaces – both outdoor and indoor – are utilized and utilized,” says Laura Malcaitė-Survilė, architect of Inblum architectural studio.

The building of the new kindergarten in Perkūnkiemi will consist of three main elements – a central building, group buildings and a connecting corridor. The central building will be dedicated to community activities, administration, additional education activities and food preparation. The corridors of the kindergarten will be equipped with hiding places and climbing areas. Each group building will have a so-called sleeping tower for children to rest.

According to the architect, the landscape decisions in this project are as important as the building and the direction of the interior spaces. Special attention is paid to the design of outdoor spaces and the creation of experiences. The building bodies are arranged in such a way that small cozy outdoor spaces appear between them, reminiscent of individual courtyards. Each kindergarten group will have a separate direct entrance from the outside to the indoor facilities. This will allow children to enter the yard easily and quickly. At the same time, the outdoor spaces are designed in such a way that a large part of the plot can be opened to the local community when the kindergarten is not working.

In the next 3 years, it is planned to build 6 kindergartens in Vilnius, which will be located in the wards of Pilaitė, Pashilaičiai, Šnipiškii and Verkii.
