Will the work on Mount Taurus be delayed? Vilnius residents are angry that they haven’t seen the workers for a long time – MadeinVilnius.lt

Another project is delayed in Vilnius. For several years now, Vilnius residents have been waiting for Tauro Hill to be repaired – a favorite place where Vilnius residents loved to go for walks and picnics in the summer, and to go sledding down the mountain in the winter. It seems that the citizens of Vilnius will not be able to carry out these favorite activities on Mount Tauro this year.

Tauro mountain began to be managed in 2022. Since then, Vilnius residents have not been able to enter the park. Civil marriages could be performed during the entire reconstruction, but residents could not perform other activities in the park. This year, we will not be able to visit the renovated Tauro Kalnos Park yet – renovation works will be delayed.

“Currently, the reconstruction works of Mount Tauros have not yet resumed after the technological break, the work is being coordinated. After the coordination is completed, the works will be resumed immediately”, says Gabrielius Grubinskas, Media Relations Specialist of the Vilnius City Municipality.

Previously, it was promised that the reconstruction of Mount Taurus would be completed by 2024. IV quarter. The new date is 2025. October However, the municipality has hope that the works will be completed earlier.

During the implementation of the project, it is planned to create a seamless connection of green spaces in Tauro kalnos park, which would allow the old town to be reached from Vingis park. A pedestrian overpass will also be built over Tauro Street. The latter is already built and could already be used. The old children’s playground will be renovated and a new one will be built, quiet recreation and sports areas with outdoor exercise equipment, and a parking lot will be installed. In the central part of the slope of Mount Tauros, it is planned to preserve the winter recreation area, and in the central part of the park to install a multifunctional activity space, which could be used as an open-air cinema in the warm season.

The renewed and modernized area of ​​Tauros kalnos park will become an attractive recreation and cultural object, matching the future National Concert Hall “Tautos namai”. The roof terrace of the concert hall will be planted with grass, dwarf bushes, and flower beds.
