Charity evening “Blooming hope”: women’s experiences, support of the first lady and famous guests

A gala charity evening of the “Blossom of Hope” initiative took place at the Lithuanian National Drama Theater on Thursday evening under the patronage of First Lady Diana Nausėdienė.

For 16 years in a row, the International Vilnius Women’s Association (IWAV) has been taking the initiative “Blooming Hope”. This initiative aims to improve the diagnosis of breast cancer. The initiative on April 25 was crowned by a solemn charity event and a documentary play – “Kintsugi people”.

During the event, guests were invited to watch a documentary play directed by Gytis Ivanauskas, based on the real experiences of women. They were embodied by well-known women in Lithuania: Nelė Savičenko, Toma Vaškevičiūtė, Gintarė Latvėnaitė.

The first lady of the country Diana Nausėdienė, Goodwill Ambassador Asta Meschino, Goodwill Ambassador Beata Nicholson, Spanish Deputy Ambassador Alejandra Rudio del Bario and other famous Lithuanian and foreign women, ambassadors, representatives of medicine, business, culture and art took part in the solemn charity event.

Rolandas Mackevičius hosted the event and shared his energy, Mantas Petruškevičius created the art installation. Goda Laurinavičiūtė contributed to the project with her dance, the music of “FutureCello” and Leon Somov, and the voice of Giedrė Kilčinauskienė.

A charity auction was held in the evening of the charity event “Suzhidei viltis”. Funds raised during the initiative are used to purchase tools needed to improve early breast cancer diagnosis. This gives oncologists the opportunity to work with innovative diagnostic tools. Much attention is also paid to encouraging women to check their health, reminding them of the importance of preventive medicine.

Over the past 16 years, the International Vilnius Women’s Association has mobilized the Lithuanian and international business, art, diplomatic and medical communities to support breast cancer treatment in Lithuania. The charitable initiative helped to collect more than 350 thousand. EUR, for which the purchased tools were donated to Lithuanian oncology hospitals.

The event “Blooming Hope” is organized by the International Vilnius Women’s Association, which unites the wives of employees of foreign embassies and businessmen from more than 25 countries living in Lithuania, as well as active Lithuanian women. With its voluntary activities, the association has been helping to solve social issues in Lithuania for 26 years.
