“An Israeli strike targeting a Hezbollah weapons depot killed 42 people, including six members of the Lebanese Hezbollah group,” and 36 Syrian soldiers, the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which has an extensive network of sources in Syria, said ( SOHR).

Earlier it was announced that 36 soldiers had died and dozens more were injured.

The strike area is also said to be close to Aleppo International Airport.

Syria’s state news agency SANA reported that civilians and soldiers were killed and wounded in the pre-dawn strike.

The Israeli military told the AFP news agency that it “will not comment on reports in foreign media.”

During Syria’s more than decade-long civil war, Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes against pro-Iranian groups fighting alongside President Bashar al-Assad’s forces in an effort to cut off Hezbollah’s supply routes into Lebanon.

Such strikes have increased since the start of Israel’s war with the Palestinian Islamist movement “Hamas” in the Gaza Strip on October 7.
