Russian forces will have the opportunity to make tactical gains on the battlefield in the coming weeks, but this will not lead to the collapse of Ukraine’s defense line, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

“Russian forces have the ability to achieve significant tactical gains in the Avdijivka district and achieve the operationally important goal of capturing Chasiv Yar; however, none of these efforts are likely to translate into an operationally significant breakthrough in the near future, let alone the collapse of Ukraine’s defensive line in the Donetsk region,” ISW stated.

He cited news reports this week that indicated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would run for office in 2023. told US House Speaker Mike Johnson in December that Ukrainian forces would be able to “sustain” until 2024 without additional US security assistance. March or April

This is the period during which Ukrainian forces are currently crossing the front line of the war without incoming US military assistance.

“The arrival of U.S. aid to the frontline in the coming weeks will allow Ukrainian forces to address current material resource shortfalls and suppress ongoing Russian offensive operations, while Russian forces appear to be intensifying efforts to destabilize Ukrainian defenses and take positions ahead of the arrival of U.S. security assistance,” ISW said.
