Gas and electricity prices for residents in Lithuania are the highest among all EU countries

Such official data for the second half of last year were provided by the EU statistical agency Eurostat, which compared the prices of energy products according to the purchasing power of the population.

For household consumers in Lithuania in 2023 natural gas cost 19.2 euros per 1,000 kWh, 11.25 euros in Latvia, 8.81 euros in Estonia, and 11.31 euros in Poland.

When assessing the purchasing power of the population, the cheapest gas went to Hungarians (EUR 5.07), Croatians (EUR 6.79), Slovaks (EUR 7.7) and Belgians (EUR 8.88).

After Lithuanians, Swedes (17.85 euros), Portuguese (16.3 euros) and Italians (14.04 euros) paid the most for gas.

Prices for electricity in Lithuania in the second half of last year were not the most expensive, but we still paid much more than the majority of residents of EU countries.

When converted into euros, the average electricity prices for households were the lowest in Hungary (11.3 euros per 100 kWh), Bulgaria (11.9 euros) and Malta (12.8 euros).

At that time, the most expensive electricity was purchased in Germany (40.2 euros), Ireland (37.9 euros) and Belgium (37.8 euros).

In the last six months, electricity for residents cost an average of 29.5 euros in Lithuania, 34.65 euros in Latvia, 26.7 euros in Estonia, and 33.49 euros in Poland.
