Cooperation between Vilnius University and Taiwanese universities is getting stronger

Last week, a delegation of Vilnius University (VU) management – rector prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, vice-rector prof. Edita Suziedėlienė and partnership vice-rector dr. Artūras Vasiliauskas visited Taiwan. The purpose of the visit is to meet with representatives of Taiwanese universities with a strong scientific and study base and to further develop diverse research and study cooperation relations with Taiwanese universities in many fields: from applied and fundamental sciences and technologies to Chinese language and culture studies.

“In Taiwan, we visited 7 universities and a science park in three cities. These are universities of the highest level, where science and innovation and studies cross the boundaries of disciplines, extremely close relations between science and business are maintained, significant state investments are made and a bright contribution of alumni is made. In Taiwan, a consistent and purposeful education policy is observed, there is agreement on essential principles in order to improve quality and be open to innovation,” says VU rector prof. R. Petrauskas.

During their visit to Taiwan, VU representatives visited National Tsing Hua, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung, National Sun Yat-sen, National Taiwan, National Chengchi, National Taipei University of Technology and National Taiwan Pedagogical University, and also visited Hsinchu Science Park and met with Taiwan’s Vice Minister of Education Mon -Chi Lio.

Among all these universities and VU now there is cooperation in scientific projects in various fields, scientists jointly prepare high-level publications, bilateral cooperation agreements are signed, students go to exchange programs and receive special scholarships, joint study programs are planned. During the visit, opportunities for the development of existing cooperation and joint activities in new areas were discussed at each visited university.
