The rising prices do not frighten Lithuanians: Easter holidays and relaxation at the seaside do not spare more than a thousand euros

--

The head of the Palanga Hotel and Restaurant Association, Laura Taučaitė, notices that there are plenty of couples and families on the weekend who promise to spend Easter in Palanga due to the pleasant weather and school holidays.

She points out that there are more holidaymakers this weekend than any other holiday weekend or school holiday this year. However, according to the president of the Lithuanian Hotel and Restaurant Association, Evalda Šiškauskienė, the tendency to be attracted to Lithuanian resorts during the holidays has been observed for some time.

“It’s a party or a flounder festival, or Easter or Christmas – the seashore is always full of people. First of all, many townspeople have purchased homes in Palanga, others go to the seaside, Birštona, Druskininkai for a longer weekend, because people take advantage of the opportunity and book services in hotels”, says E. Šiškauskienė.

According to her, the tendency to celebrate holidays outside of the home may have originated from abroad and is becoming more popular, because people have much less worries this way.

“I would think that a lot of emigrants who live in foreign countries come to us. Also, not everyone may have and can gather more people to relatives and parents.

Someone has to jump in the kitchen, if you do it at home, and if you meet in a neutral place and it’s very nice, then the tradition changes that the family can chat not necessarily at home”, says E. Šiškauskienė.

Prices have gone up, but there is still plenty to choose from

Rimantas Šimkevičius, the manager of “Royal SPA Residence”, interviewed by the news portal tv3.lt, says that two nights for a family of four would cost about 250 euros.

According to the manager of the hotel, compared to last year, prices here have risen by 10 percent. Some customers say they are trying to save money, although in reality they are not spending less money.

However, L. Taučiūtė states that resort accommodation establishments cannot afford to raise prices too much, because they are not competing with each other, but with people’s choice to go abroad on such days. In her opinion, some institutions could have raised prices since last year, but not significantly – up to 5%.

However, according to the head of the Palanga Hotel and Restaurant Association, it is natural that prices have risen by 5-10 percent compared to non-holiday days, but people still have a wide choice of prices.

“The pricing of hotels is radically different, each guest chooses according to their financial capabilities to have a fun vacation, so that they don’t feel bad that they need money to pay, they come and enjoy the vacation and the sun,” L. Taučiūtė mentioned about the various prices in Palanga.

How much does a long weekend in Druskininkai or Palanga cost?

According to the information collected by the news portal tv3.lt from Booking.com, vacationers who choose the Druskininkai resort have to pay from 60 to 250 euros for a hotel room for a long weekend. And a stay in a spa accommodation costs about 250-400 euros per couple.

For larger families, prices in Druskininkai accommodation facilities range from 80 to 700 euros for a long weekend.

Prices are similar in Palanga resort. It is possible to find hotels for a long weekend for 70 euros for a couple, but it is also possible to live more luxuriously for 300 euros. Spa establishments offer to fit up to 200, but it is also possible to lay 800 euros.

For families, it is possible to fit into 100 euros, but a spa stay can already reach almost a thousand euros.

L. Taučiūtė points out that Palanga hotels offer various packages to increase occupancy in the upcoming weekend. Starting to offer discounts or additional services.

“For example, one hotel offers that children up to the age of 12 stay for free during the entire period of the children’s holiday, which is free accommodation. Every hotel has some kind of campaign,” she assures.
