Maksvytis is one of the candidates to take over the helm of the Italian club

The club will part ways with Croatian Neven Spahija, who previously worked in Lithuania, after this season. The team competes in the European Cup and the Italian Championship. He retired from the first this season after the first stage, and is currently fourth in the second.

K. Maksvytis worked for Kaunas “Žalgiris” for the last two seasons, but at the end of last year he was fired and replaced by the Italian Andrea Trinchieri.

It is added that the strategist had received invitations from Vilnius “Wolves” and Istanbul “Galatasaray” to take over their helms this season, but rejected the offers.

This summer, K. Maksvytis faces big challenges with the Lithuanian basketball team – the Olympic selection tournament will be played in Puerto Rico in July, and in case of success, he will also compete in the Paris Games.

After this summer, the specialist’s contract with the national team will expire, and a little earlier he mentioned that working two jobs – in the club and in the national team – is too difficult, so it will be necessary to choose a further direction.
