“The government requests clarifications on the nationalization of Ariston Thermo Group,” Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced on the X (formerly Twitter) social network.

He said he had asked a top official in Italy’s foreign ministry to summon the Russian ambassador.

“(We are) also working with Brussels, along with Germany,” after Bosch was also targeted, he said.

In another message, Tajani noted that he had spoken with Ariston’s top executives, adding that Rome “supports the companies and is ready to defend them in all international markets.”

This move by the Kremlin was announced in a decree of the Russian government made public on Friday, which was already signed by President Vladimir Putin.

According to him, 100 percent of Ariston companies in Russia – Ariston Thermo Rus, which is owned by Ariston Holding NV, and BSH Household Appliances, which is owned by BSH Hausgerate GmbH. share control is transferred to Gazprom Household Systems, a subsidiary of Gazprom.

After the invasion of Ukraine, Moscow took over the Russian subsidiaries of a number of Western companies, notably French yogurt maker Danone and Danish brewer Carlsberg, although it calls the takeover “temporary management control.”

With these actions, Moscow reacted to Western sanctions against Russian companies.

Western officials and some companies have condemned Moscow’s “nationalization” of private property.
