Piracy in Vilnius is decreasing – since 2019 cases of viewing illegal films decreased to 10 percent. This is influenced by the growing popularity of legal platforms that ensure the wide availability of films and other visual recordings.

Music piracy has been significantly reduced, almost to a minimum, by the emergence of the Spotify platform. On the platform, the user can listen not only to music of various genres, but also to podcasts, visual solutions have also appeared.

Criminal responsibility also reduced the number of illegal cases. More than one Lithuanian has already had to thin his wallet for watching illegal content on the Internet. If the content is used illegally, he may have to pay a fine of up to 280 euros. If such an offense is committed for the first time, the fine amounts to 140 euros.

If piracy is carried out with commercial actions, the offenders may be fined a maximum of 3 thousand. EUR fine.

Perhaps the most notable case in Lithuania is the blocking of the Filmai.in website. This happened back in 2019. Currently, pirated websites are being removed from the Google search engine. It is intended that the pirated content be removed from the servers where it is hosted as soon as possible.
