The State Energy Regulatory Council (VERT) on Thursday approved the upper limit of the public electricity price of the largest electricity supplier “Ignitis” for household consumers for the second half of this year.

When purchasing electricity from medium voltage (MV) networks, the price including VAT will reach 12.544 cents per kilowatt hour (1.757 cents or 12.28 percent lower than the current price).

The upper limit of the price of low voltage (LV) networks – the majority of domestic consumers – is set at 19.221 cents per kWh including VAT (1.757 cents or 8.37 percent lower).

These prices are valid for participants of the third stage of market liberalization who have not chosen an independent supplier – they consume less than 1000 kWh per year.

The upper limit of the public price consists of the purchase price of electricity, the price of public interest services (VIAP), the price of transmission and the additional component to the transmission service, and other components.

As already announced, on Monday VERT set the electricity market price for the second half of this year. This price is used, among other things, to calculate the public price of electricity. The new market price, valid from July to the end of December, will reach 8.353 cents per kWh and will be 14.35 percent. lower than in the first half of this year (9.753 cents per kWh).

We remind you that after relatively low energy prices have settled in the market, natural gas and public electricity have already become cheaper for residents since April. The price of the state-regulated part of the tariffs of customers who chose an independent electricity supplier also became lower. VERT approved the new tariffs at the end of February, taking into account the trends of the gas market and the million dollar overpayment received by ESO, which is returned through the transmission tariff.

Thus, the public electricity supply provided by the company “Ignitis” has decreased in price to 0.5 cent since April 1. For example, when it comes to the most popular “Standard” plan, its rate varied from 21.9 cents to 21.4 cents per kWh in one time zone.

Now, after the latest decisions of the regulator, further reduction in the price of public supply can be expected. So the mentioned rate for the “Standard” plan for one time zone can be lower than 20 cents per kWh.
