“So far, the decisions are that Viktor Uspaskich, like himself, probably suspends his membership in the party until all the procedural matters take place and something more becomes clear in all these events, which we have been able to observe in the last few days”, – on Thursday to the LRT program “Svarbi valanda” said A. Mazuronis.
He spoke this way while the meeting of the Council of the Labor Party was still going on. According to him, the discussion regarding the party’s participation in the European Parliament elections continues.
European Public Prosecutor’s Office investigation
The European Public Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an investigation, during which law enforcement performed procedural actions at the headquarters of the “workers” in Vilnius.
A. Mazuronis said on Wednesday that the investigation is related to the activities of the former party leadership in the EP. The only representative of the Labor Party in the EP is its founder, honorary chairman V. Uspaskich. He was also supposed to lead the party to the European Parliament elections this year.
The Labor leader said the investigation did not involve “anyone in the current leadership of the party or any person currently holding any position in the party”.
He did not name V. Uspaskich, but indirectly let it be understood that the investigation is being conducted on the activities of the founder of the party.
On Tuesday, law enforcement performed procedural actions at the headquarters of the Labor Party, the investigation is controlled by European Delegated Prosecutor Vytautas Kukaitis.
Law enforcement does not yet comment on the nature of the investigation or on whom it is being conducted.
