The head of the Belarusian KGB claims that the attacks of combat drones from the territory of Lithuania, attacking targets in Minsk and its surroundings, were repelled. The Lithuanian army describes this as disinformation.

Ivan Tertelis, the KGB commander, announced this at the Belarusian National Assembly in Minsk on Thursday, quoted by smartpress.by and the state news agency Belta. He did not elaborate on when the alleged attack might have taken place.

“Lithuania has become the base of “Vilenska Horugva”, where, under the leadership of radicals (…), in direct communication with the Lithuanian paramilitary formation “Šaulių klubas”, it is planned to enter the territory of Ashmena, Smurgainii and Breslauja, organize the transfer of weapons, explosives and other means of destruction to Belarus”, the security guard explained at the national meeting, where a lot of attention was paid to “peaceful, democratic and independent” Belarus and the “collective West” that wants to harm it.

“The State Security Committee, in cooperation with colleagues from other law enforcement institutions, has recently implemented several “sharp” security measures, which made it possible to prevent attacks by combat drones from the territory of Lithuania on objects in Minsk and its suburbs,” he added.

I. Tertelis emphasized that further work is being done in this area, so far detailed information cannot be provided.

The Lithuanian army denies these reports and calls it disinformation.

“This is disinformation. In principle, this is nothing new. Obviously, this kind of intimidation is being seen for the first time. The state of Lithuania does not take any hostile actions against other states,” Gintautas Ciunis, a representative of the army, told BNS on Thursday.

Vilmantas Vitkauskas, head of the National Crisis Management Center, says that the information disseminated by Belarusian services about pseudo-groups supposedly residing in Lithuania and Poland, aiming to harm Belarus, is not new.

“We’ve been hearing such narratives for a long time, they became especially active in the Baltic countries during NATO’s defensive exercises, A. Lukashenko spoke similarly at the beginning of March,” he reminds.

According to V. Vitkauskas, such statements by the KGB of Belarus can be seen as a continuous hostile provocation and an informational attack against Lithuania, which has nothing to do with reality: “It can be seen that they are also intended for the domestic audience of the country, because the “people’s assembly” is currently taking place. We would like to remind you that citizens of Lithuania traveling to Belarus are faced with increasing pressure and interrogations by the security services of this country, so we strongly recommend to refuse any trips in this direction.”

Alexander Lukashenko, the illegitimate president of Belarus, spoke at a national meeting about alleged saboteurs breaking through the border.

“Look around you, inform us about any matter. So far, we have managed to resist everything that the chairman of the KGB committee talked about. We are directing enormous resources to contain, especially the saboteurs who move across our border. And it’s good that our counterintelligence officers and police manage to detect and neutralize them in time. But imagine, it’s hundreds of kilograms of explosives. Not even TNT, but plastic,” said A. Lukashenka.

In September of last year, LNK news announced that the Belarusians, who called themselves “Litvinas” (“Licviny”), have established a club in Lithuania, which organizes military tactics and self-defense training, organizes physical training, weapons handling courses and the like.

The Lithuanian Rifle Association had cooperated with this Belarusian organization before, but in September of last year it said it had terminated the cooperation.

The representatives of the “Licviny” organization have emphasized to LRT.lt that the club does not identify itself with the Litvinists or their professed ideology – they basically differ in their views on the historical links between Lithuania and Belarus. And as the main mission, they indicate the goal of fighting against the regimes of Vladimir Putin and A. Lukashenko.
