As Kaunas welcomes Doctors’ Day, there will be applause and bonuses for the heroes of the profession

On Wednesday evening, the Kaunas State Music Theater received thunderous applause not only for the artists, but also for the medics who entered the stage. The upcoming Medical Workers’ Day was solemnly celebrated: health care institutions and organizations were honored, and five laureates were awarded the Medical Worker of the Year awards.

“Your work creates invaluable value. In certain situations, you are salvation and the last hope for a person. Doctors help overcome not only physical, but also emotional pains, restore faith, provide comfort in life, strengthen the desire to take care of oneself and others. Sincere dedication, great efforts and unceasing concern save what is most precious – human lives.

Each of you deserves the loudest applause and the biggest thanks. Thank you for the countless hours of work, training of young specialists, enormous responsibility and important decisions! We are proud of your achievements, which simply cannot go unnoticed,” Kaunas Deputy Mayor Andrius Palionis congratulated the doctors.

The vice mayor smiled that the city is devoting more and more work and effort to two directions. First of all, the aim is to renovate the spaces of institutions under the city, so that it is comfortable for doctors to work there and for patients to visit. However, according to A. Palionis, it is just as important to improve the well-being of the people of Kaunas by promoting a healthier lifestyle, so that people have to face ailments and seek medical help as rarely as possible.

The participants and guests of the festive evening were honored on the stage of the Musical Theater not only with speeches, but also with 3,000 prizes specially designed to evaluate their works. euro bonuses. Candidates for honorable evaluation were proposed by the city’s health care institutions and associations uniting representatives of this profession. A specially formed commission received 11 applications, from which five laureates were selected:

• Head of the Vičiūnai Department of Kazios Grinius Nursing and Supportive Treatment Hospital, internal medicine doctor Aurelija Būdienė;
• Audronė Maščinskienė, family doctor of the Family Health Care Department of the Center Unit of the Kaunas City Polyclinic;
• Kristina Navickienė, psychologist at the Public Health Office of Kaunas City Municipality;
• Gytis Rinkūnas, head of the Urology Department of Kaunas Hospital of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, doctor urologist;
• General practice nurse Birutė Želnytė, Cardiology Department, Kaunas Hospital, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.

The medical worker of the year award is given for merit in various programs and projects, social initiatives in the field of health care. Also for representing the city of Kaunas in the country and abroad, introducing disease diagnostics, their treatment, prevention, rehabilitation and other innovations, versatile sharing of knowledge and experience with colleagues.

The event, which has become a tradition and is organized annually by the Kaunas municipality, also honored institutions and organizations that implemented preventive programs and showed excellent results in the field of immunization, vaccinating children and adults.

In the first category, the Kaunas City Polyclinic and the Đžuolynas Medical Clinic were awarded for their significant contribution in carrying out preventive programs. In the field of immunization, the company “Rasos klinika” and the Center department of the Kaunas City Polyclinic excelled. In both categories, the Äžuolo family clinic was among the laureates.

After the solemn award ceremony, on the occasion of the professional day, a festive gift awaited those gathered – the two-part operetta “Count Luxemburgas” from the repertoire of the Kaunas State Musical Theater.
