In the coming weekend, Neringa is organizing “Žiobrines”. On that occasion, a 24-hour entry discount will be applied to Neringa. From April 26, persons entering Neringa by car will be exempted from the local toll. 12 o’clock until April 27 12 o’clock

During the celebration, a culinary tour of the Curonian Spit is promised. Specially prepared sea bream will be baked here, and the cafes and restaurants of Neringa will prepare exceptional fish dishes for the traditional spring fishermen’s festival all weekend long.

The initiatives dedicated to the “Žiobrinių” holiday will begin on April 26. and will continue until April 28. Neringa invites you to start the weekend with a trip along the route of festive dishes, joined by the cafes and restaurants of Juodkrantė, Pervalka and Nida. On this culinary tour you will find a wide variety of fish and fish dishes. However, the most important highlight of the holiday is undoubtedly the fire-roasted gorse.

“Ziobris is a tasty, fatty fish of the carp family, which can be cured, smoked, cooked like herring, grilled or grilled. And it’s easy to prepare: you only need salt, pepper and a little garlic for marinating”, – Neringa fisherman and chef Saulius Neliupšis, who is preparing žiobris for the holiday, names the methods of fish preparation.

The bream, according to him, is a strong fish grown in the sea, which, when caught, has an impressive fight in fishing. Bream belongs to the group of “transient” fish: in spring it migrates from the Baltic Sea to rivers or streams to spawn. The average bream caught in the Curonian Lagoon weighs 300-500 g, but in rare cases larger specimens, even up to a kilogram, can be found.

Neringa will roast bream on the fire on April 27 – this day is the day when the most festive events are planned. In the meadow next to the port of Nida, it will be possible not only to roast a sardine on a bonfire, but also to get acquainted with the traditions of the Pomeranian region and to listen to songs.

On Saturday morning, guests of Neringa will be treated to two special excursions, and the rest of the day will be filled with fun educational and creative activities, games and activities for children, active leisure events, and concerts.

Throughout the weekend, April 26-28, there will be a craft, folk art and food fair in Nida. On Sunday afternoon, the little guests of the festival are welcome at the Klaipėda Puppet Theater performance “About Fish and People”.

“This holiday tells us about the unique, long-standing traditions of Pomerania. Back then, these traditions invited fishermen to discuss the ending fishing season, and today this holiday invites us to celebrate spring, which is exceptionally beautiful in Neringa. Let’s meet at the campfire smelling of brambles!”, Neringa Mayor Darius Jasaitis invites you to the traditional Žiobrines.
