“The space sector is one of the fastest growing in the world – according to the World Economic Forum, by 2023 the space economy was about $630 billion. US dollars, it is predicted that by 2035 its value could grow to 1.8 trillion US dollars. The Lithuanian ecosystem in this field is also rapidly strengthening – our country is an associate member of the European Space Agency, we are making a lot of efforts to develop scientific research, innovation and commercialization in the field of space, to promote international cooperation and the involvement of the sector in international networks”, says the press release of the Ministry of Economy and Vice Minister of Innovation Neringa Morozaitė-Rasmussen.

Among the guests are the leaders of the European space industry

The event will be attended by the most advanced participants of the Lithuanian space ecosystem, such as the aerospace startup “Astrolight”, “Geomatrix”, which provides services for adapting satellite earth observation data, “Novian”, a company that develops software systems, “Blackswan Space”, which develops software for satellites in order to make them autonomous, and other important companies. Guests from abroad will also gather there, a Lithuanian-German business forum will be held, where one of the leading companies in the European space industry, OHB SE, will give a presentation and participate in B2B meetings.

Marco Fuchs, CEO of OHB SE, who is coming to Lithuania, says that this event will contribute to the development of the global space ecosystem and will undoubtedly bring great benefits both to the German concern itself and to the Lithuanian companies participating in it.

“We are happy to participate in Vilnius Space Days, an event that confirms the increasing importance of international cooperation in the space industry every year. One of our main commitments as one of the largest system integrators in this sector in Europe is to promote partnership, innovation and technological progress. Therefore, we believe that the opportunity to get to know the organizations of the Lithuanian space ecosystem, which are growing extremely fast every year, will significantly contribute to the creation of European space and ambitious aspirations”, says Marco Fuchs.

Eglė Elena Šataitė, group manager of the innovation agency “Space Hub LT”, emphasizes that one of the main goals of “Vilnius Space Days” is the establishment of international relations.

“The event is designed so that Lithuanian companies can establish international contacts, new partnerships, and later – submit applications to the European Space Agency, other international institutions and develop new technologies together with industry participants from other European countries. We aim for the work done in Lithuania to be known all over the world, and for the companies working in the space sector to join international value creation chains”, says the representative of the Innovation Agency and states that during the conference it will also be possible to see what Lithuanian companies have already managed to do in the field of space and to find out about their future plans.

The event includes a meeting session, a business forum and discussions

According to the expert of the Innovation Agency, the visit of representatives of the German concern OHB SE will contribute to the strengthening of international relations.

“The visit of OHB SE and the Lithuanian-German business forum, which will take place in the second part of the conference, will undoubtedly help us establish a stronger connection with Germany, which has a significant influence in solving European space policy issues both in the European Space Agency and the European Commission. OHB SE is a major systems integrator – an important player in the European space industry, and cooperation with such companies is extremely important for small countries like Lithuania, so that our country’s companies can more easily integrate their goods and services into international chains”, shares EE Šataitė.

In addition to the Lithuanian-German business forum and B2B meetings, during the conference there will also be discussions about the integration of activities of various sectors in the field of space and the opportunities opened up by satellite Earth observation data and their application in the public sector.
