The youth park can be safely called the center of attraction for the people of Alysti and the guests of our city. Residents of various ages and interests find something to do there: active leisure lovers, peace and nature lovers, children and the elderly.
Almost every park has a natural or artificial body of water or a fountain. The Youth Park, although full of springs and natural wetlands, did not have such a pool.
The Youth Park, which is loved by Alytis residents, will soon be even more beautiful. During their visit, Gintaras Rakaitis, director of the Alytus City Municipality administration, and a team of municipal specialists discussed the planned works.
The installation of the first ponds started this week. They will appear in the Dating Zone of the Youth Park in a naturally formed wetland. Pond excavation works are carried out while preserving the naturally formed landscape and vegetation. The former wetland will be cleaned of silt, remains of herbaceous plants and garbage. Another pond is planned to catch excess spring water when the first one overflows.
To ensure the safety of park visitors, the ponds are formed with shallow banks. Later, the accesses will be fixed, the lawn will be sown, new plants will be planted, and other elements of the park’s infrastructure will also appear.
The water reservoir of the Youth Park will create a cozy and cool environment on hot summer days, and will attract waterfowl that already like to stay here.
A recreation area will also be created around the pond. In it, residents will be able to spend their time peacefully, have a picnic sitting on the grass, and who wants a different comfort – sit on the benches and admire the vegetation that decorates the environment. And during the heat, it will be possible to cool down by wading into the water.
Pedestrian paths are also being maintained in the youth park: their surface will be changed, the base of the paths will be strengthened and a new asphalt surface will be installed. The paths will also be adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. Rainwater will also be taken care of so that the paths are not wet and not slippery in winter. New lighting will also be installed.
The overhaul of the pedestrian bridge will also begin soon.
There will be another space in the youth park – the “Dadaužu pitch”. This is a large-scale project from 2023. national initiatives. In Alytus, this will be the first such space for teenagers, where they can romp, climb, and play. The name of “Slaughterhouse” was not chosen by chance. Residents are asked to be careful, to keep a safe distance from objects being handled, especially when machinery is working.
The pond of the youth park is being dug and the “Padauži site” is being equipped from the municipal budget, other works will be carried out from European funds.
