In the end, the public interest was defended by the Prosecutor’s Office, and the case is currently being heard again in court.
The businessmen managing the plot said they were disappointed with the decisions of the state institutions, so they are trying to claim 2.5 million from the state. euros.
By the way, the owners of this territory are related to the renovation of Belmont Stud in Vilnius. There, their plans also caused a stir.
After the article was already published, Elektrėnai Municipality submitted an additional comment. According to her, it would be wrong to say that the municipality started looking for ways to allow businessmen to build both plots near the lake.
“The municipality did not start looking for such methods. Even before the auction of state land in 2018. September 26 the decision approved the adjusted general plan of the Elektrėnai municipality, which increased the percentage of construction of recreational areas from 3 to 15. This decision determined the intensification of the construction of the lagoon shores”, – said the representatives of the municipality.
