Žemaitė’s masked comedy “Three Loved Ones”, dir. A. Armon

We invite you to the theater, where love intrigues and extraordinary characters intertwine into an incredible comedy plot! The Panevėžys Puppet Carriage Theater presents with great joy the Žemaitė mask comedy “Three Loved Ones”, directed by Algimantas Armonas.

There are dramatic works whose value does not fade even after centuries. “Three Loved Ones” as a dramaturgical gem is dear to Lithuanians. Five characters come onto the stage before your eyes, each with their own unique story and aspirations. Three women, three lovers, living under one roof and are in love with the same village boy Ludvik. Is it true love or a clever deception?

The uniqueness of this production is large, almost human-sized masks, which not only give expressiveness, but also give more expression to thought, visuality and emphasize playfulness. The key to the work of the artist Elvyra Vilkienė and the actors is to reveal the possibilities of masks, which allow us to see not only facial expressions, but also the emotion behind them.

We will invite the audience to the creative world of Žemaitė, where comedy, wisdom and people’s life stories are intertwined. We have a special goal – to return to the roots of Lithuanian creativity, to the very heart of our village, to its authentic realities. In the production of Panevėžys Puppet Carriage Theater “Three Beloveds”, we want to show contemporary people and young people the dialectal, Žemaitian dialect and invite them to fall in love not only with the pearls of Lithuanian literature and stage, but also to discover the puppet theater, which is intended for both young viewers and older audiences. So, tune in to this lively, witty and engaging comedy, where playfulness and love intrigues enchant every viewer!
