New footage has surfaced online showing Ukrainian forces hitting a rare Arctic variant of the Russian Tor air defense system.

A Tor-M2DT mounted on a DT-30 tracked transporter is believed to have been destroyed in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine.

The Tor-M2DT is specifically designed to operate in Arctic conditions. According to Russia, this system can work even in 50 degrees Celsius.

One system consists of two tracked modules: one for crew accommodation and fire control, the other for radar and two launch modules with 4 anti-aircraft missiles of the 9M331 or 9M332 type.

The Tor-M2DT is said to be capable of engaging targets at a range of 1 to 12 kilometers and at an altitude of 10 meters to 10 kilometers.

The Russian Ministry of Defense received the first 12 series-produced TOR-M2DT systems in 2018. in November

Originally developed to protect strategically important facilities in the Arctic region, these systems are now actively used in the war in Ukraine, where Russian forces are confirmed to have lost at least 6 systems.

Russian state media said this anti-aircraft defense system could counter massive enemy airstrikes, even with the enemy using electronic warfare, Defense Blog writes.
