The finalists of the folk dance competition have been selected

In the selection round of the Lithuanian schoolchildren’s folk dance competition “Patrepsynė” of Šiauliai city and Šiauliai district, which took place in the Šiauliai cultural center, the couples who will compete in the final stage of the competition were selected.

This year, 42 couples took part in the competition: 33 from the city of Šiauliai and 9 from the district of Šiauliai: dancers from the folklore club “Čiutulis” of the Gegužiai pro-gymnasium in Šiauliai (teacher Rima Šereivienė), the folk group of the Jesuit school of Šiauliai “Jurgutis” (teacher Ramutė Vedeckienė), Šiauliai ” Juventos” pro-gymnasium folklore groups (teachers: Eglė Baranauskienė and Asta Jakumienė), Šiauliai Saulius Sondeckis Arts Gymnasium (teacher: Jolanta Butenienė), Šiauliai Dance Music School folklore ensemble “Vieversėlis” (director: Arūnas Stankus), Šiauliai district. Kuršėnai Pavenčių school-multipurpose center (teachers Dalia Mažeikienė and Loreta Lideikienė) and Šiauliai district. Kuršėnai Pavenčių school-multifunctional center Raudėnai branch (teacher Alma Steponavičienė).

The dances were judged by Radviliškis district. Džiuljeta Ragauskienė, teacher of the dance group “Dūkymėlis” of the Šiauliai Marcelino Šikšnis high school, art director of the choreography studio “Aušrelė” of the Šiauliai Cultural Center, Mindaugas Kosaitis, ballet master of the Lithuanian Song Festival and head of the Amateur Art Department of the Šiauliai Cultural Center, project manager of the Lithuanian schoolchildren’s folk dance competition “Patrepsynė” Brijūniene.

The competition assessed not only dance technique, but also sense of rhythm, artistry, naturalness and originality.

4 couples from the Šiauliai district and 8 couples from the city of Šiauliai were the best at revealing the authenticity of the folk dances “Drėbininke”, “Viedar’s”, “Tancius”, “Lelinderis”.

In the selection round, the instrumental group of the children’s and youth folklore ensemble “Vieversėlis” of the Šiauliai School of Music School (conductor Arūnas Stankus) played.

The final round of the “Patrepsynė” folk dance competition for Lithuanian schoolchildren will take place on May 4 at the Šiauliai Cultural Center.
