Fans of Fox’s animated series The Simpsons were left shocked after the show’s creators killed off longtime character Larry Barfly.

The character of Larry was invented over 34 years ago. Over time, he appeared sporadically, rarely uttering a word.

On Sunday night’s season 35 episode, “Cremains of the Day,” Larry died, and Homer, Moe, and bar regulars Lenny and Carl went on a trip to scatter his ashes.

Because Larry was only a supporting character – little is known about him other than his fondness for booze and incoherent mumbling. The script states that his backstory is rather vague.

Homer and the other characters realize that they barely knew the man and feel sorry when Larry’s mother tells them that he described the bar patrons as his “best friends” and asked them to share “fond memories”. Then they had to create a fake story about fishing.

Longtime fans were shocked by the loss of the character.

“I just found out they’re killing off Larry tomorrow on The Simpsons.” I need a minute,” wrote one commenter on the social network X.

Another social media user also mourned the character.

“I can’t believe they killed off Larry Dalrymple on The Simpsons last night.” RIPLarry ,” he wrote.
